calibration

When referencing hydromechanical injection pumps, calibration refers to the adjustments of the control rack to pinion, rack travel, or rotation of barrels to ensure that the delivery of fuel from each plunger is the same throughout the entire speed range of the pump.

calibration code

A numeric or alphanumeric value applied to the injector that provides information about unique fuel flow rates through the injector; also known as E-trim, injector code , or fuel trim code .

calibration codes

Alphanumerical information assigned to a specific injector used by the ECU to correct for manufacturing tolerances of an injector; also called injector codes or fuel trim codes .

cam ground piston

An elliptically shaped piston that expands to a round, symmetrical shape after it is warmed up.

cam plate

A multilobed rotating plate in an axial plunger injection pump used to produce the reciprocating movement of the axial plunger.

cam ring

A ring with lobes arranged on its internal diameter that is used to force opposing pumping plungers together to produce an injection event.

camless diesel

A system that uses electrohydraulic actuation to operate intake and exhaust valves instead of a camshaft.

camshaft wedges

Angled wedges used to align and lock the camshafts in place.

capacitive coupling

A category of electromagnetic interference transmitted into wiring harnesses and circuits by strong electrostatic charges on body panels and other large surfaces.

capacitors

Circuit-control devices made of two plates separated by an insulating material.
